Your Daily Bread: Trust and Believe in 2026
Hello Friends!
Two blog posts in one month! Can you believe it?! I know, I know I am not all that consistent. However, I truly do take time to consider what God is teaching me in every season. Sometimes, I have a lot to say. Sometimes I’m just watching, praying and waiting. This year has truly been a year of transition for the Bussey Crew. We had friends leave and Mr. B got a ministry position; which transitioned us to a new church. I also brought the children back home to be homeschooled again. Thus, we said “see you soon” to a sweet school community as well. It has been hard. Many tears have been shed as we’ve longed for and missed things of old. But our God….He is always doing something new. Despite the world’s challenges, the Lord continues to bless our family. We are eagerly awaiting the birth of a new sweet babe in March! Back to odd numbers for us!
With the new year a day or so away, I’ve been pondering over my focus for 2026. No new year resolutions for me. No “word of the year”. I’ve done those things in the past..made such promises. However, I feel like taking a different path this year. This year, I would like to just be in a state of constant prayer and praise. You see, January is kind of a weird financial month for our family. I’m being fully transparent here…but I know many of you all know what I’m talking about. After we’ve all spent a bunch of money on gifts, travel and food….January can be…well…TIGHT. ( Even if you are conservative spenders like us.) Tah! And ya’ll know unexpected expenses like to pop up around the holidays, too! When I’ve sat down to start budgeting for the year, I’ve often found myself shaking my head and pursing my lips at January. Even in the last couple of days, I’ve been a tad anxious and trepidatious over the start of the new year. Today though, I remembered the words of one of my dearest friends. Year before last, in the midst of crazy expensive car troubles, I was lamenting to her about how we weren’t sure how we were going to make ends meet. She said to me, “MeShel, just ask God for your daily bread. That’s all you can do.” Well, I’m blessed to have some truly faithful friends, mentors and loved ones. (FYI get you some! Surround yourself, so they can point you back to Christ!)
Ask God for my daily bread. It’s so simple! Hasn’t the Lord been faithful all of these years?! Yes He has! Somehow, some way, we’ve made it through. Day by day, the Lord gives us what we need…especially if we ask it of Him in prayer. Consider The Lord’s Prayer:
“Give us this day, our daily bread…”
~Matt. 6:11
We are trusting God for daily provision. Not more, not less. Just what you NEED for the day. And look folks, I’m not just talking about our tangible daily needs. I’m talking about WHATEVER you need. Spiritual needs…if you need to be faithful, obedient, trusting of the Lord, or perseverant. He’ll give it to you. If you need strength for the day, God will you His divine strength. If you need rest for the night, the Lord will provide. If you need to be brave, He is there. If you need peace, receive indescribable peace. Throughout my days, I’ve prayed for the most basic of things; for a better mood or for patience. I have been truly amazed at what God has done for me! At the end of the day, I will finally sit down in my old passed down rocking chair, and rock my youngest to sleep. In those moments, I think about how the Lord has brought us through that day. Giving us just what we need. Consider the below scriptures:
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory to Christ Jesus.”
~Phil. 4:19
“But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
~ Matt. 7:11
Consider the “seek first”. To seek first the kingdom of God is to bend the knee to the will of God. You need to accept and trust in God’s timing…all things come according to God’s will. With that being said, some of your most fervent prayers may not be answered when you want them to be. This isn’t prosperity gospel we’re talking about here. This is something so much deeper than that. Even still, God gave you your “daily bread” for the day….even if you couldn’t recognize and see it for yourself. 2 Peter 1:3 says:
“ His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness”
~ 2 Peter 1:3
When times are challenging throughout this coming year, we need only ask the Lord to please give us “our daily bread”. As for the Bussey Crew, we certainly have goals for this year. Alas, we can’t quite see how or if any of them will be accomplished yet. But that’s okay. If we look too far ahead, we’ll start to worry. Worry is not of God. Prepare and plan for the future in a reasonable way, but trust that the Lord will give you what you need for today! Praise Him for getting you through it all, and for all He has done. My prayer for you all this year is that you will trust and believe that the Lord will do what He says He’s going to do…what He has ALWAYS done.
As this 2025 comes to a close, may you all experience the love and light of the Lord in the coming year. Have a Happy & Hope-Filled New Year my Friends!
