A Year of Scripture

Hello Friends,

I pray that your holiday has been well. I just wanted to send out one more post of 2022! I feel incredibly blessed to have experienced 2022. The year of 2023 honestly would have never crossed my mind growing up. When you are young you very rarely think that far ahead. Now that I am in my 30s, all I do is think of the future. Sometimes to plan....sometimes to worry. A new year brings such a mix of emotions, but the prevailing emotion for me is excitement.

Every year, I usually pick one or two words to focus on throughout the year. I've always been a huge advocate for doing that. This year, however, I came across a post in which the writer ( I unfortunately forgot her Instagram tag, but I thank her nonetheless) said that instead of picking a word for the year, she was going to pick a scripture. So simple.

Why had that never occurred to me!?!

She gave some fantastic reasons for why we should consider having a scripture for the year, but the reason that stuck out the most to me was "Scripture never changes".

The Word of God never changes.

It is so easy to lose focus throughout the year. Just think of how comforting it would be to know that no matter what is going on in your life, in your mind or in your heart...you can come back to this one scripture filled with Truth. Now, I do have a scripture that I continue to come back to in this overall season of my life. I call it my "life verse". But I'm shocked that I never thought of a scripture that I could focus on within a single year. I think that I will be trying this out this year. I will take some time to consider what I would like to focus on, and I'll find a scripture that speaks to my heart.

I don't want to keep you all too long this New Year's Eve. I would simply like to encourage you to try something different and maybe consider choosing a scripture verse to focus on in this new year. Always try to make improving your relationship with Christ your first priority. If you do this, the overflow of God's mercy and love will pour into other areas of your life. Of this I am sure. In these last couple of hours of 2022, I leave you with one of my favorite final greetings of Paul. I think he was so good at writing such sincere and meaningful greetings and farewells. My friends...

"May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."

~2 Corinthians 13:14

Happy New Year from my family to yours.
